Flat Track Fever - RECAP

Ahhhh…Now that we've had some time to stretch our tired muscles and utilize our brains for non-derby related activities, the time has come to recap the wondrous FTF from the Missfit perspective...

 Day one had us face-off against Chinook City’s very own Kill Jills. It was an incredibly close game, too close, and with Missfit blockers running into major penalty troubles the Kill Jills cinched the win with a 117-122 final. The next morning provided us with a rematch against the KJs and once again it was an insanely tight game. Final jam of the bout had the Kill Jills jammer in the box allowing the Stitch Rip-Her the opportunity to close the mini point gap and take the lead! Final score 196-195.

With only an hour to rest the Missfits went on to play E-Ville! Last year the ‘Fits were only able to squeeze 12 points out of the gals in green, but after much effort and with smiles on our faces we saw our score rise as high 87 points! It was a glorious game, one which we Missfits gained a lot of experience from, and for that we a grateful, even with the final score being 87-369.

We also had a bunch of our junior skaters out for the Level 1&2, and Level 3 junior scrimmages and we couldn’t be prouder! Way to go Toys! All in all, CARDA is very thankful to CCRD and all of the volunteers, NSOs, and referees, for putting in the countless hours to make it such a success. Also an special thanks to photographers, Anthony Canada in particular, for catching all Missfit and CARDA junior games (stay tuned for pictures!), and Banshee and Frisky Didgits for being the bestest coaches a team could ask for! See you all next year!

Flat Track Fever 2013!

Ahmahgahd you guys! Flat Track Fever you guys! This weekend, April 12th-14, marks the 2nd annual tounament, FTF, held in Calgary's Olympic Oval. Three tracks, 18 leagues, and a whole lotta roller derby! Last year provided some of CARDA's fondest derby memories, and we can't friggen wait to make new ones with some of the derby world's most skilled representatives.

Easter Weekend Double Headrer - Recap

What a lovely way to enjoy a long weekend! Derby, the some more derby, followed by chocolate eggs and ham! Saturday, March 30th saw CARDA showcasing their new-fangled junior team, The MISSfit Toys, as they bouted it out against GEJRDA. As everyone on the sidelines cheered and swelled with pride, our little 'Fits skated their hearts out! They were graciously defeated, final score of 113-226 ,but this was only an awakening, a calling from their derby mother to come home. The Toys are back training, and getting ready for their next derby-battle-fun-time!

Next up was the Missfits of Mayhem vs the OCDG All Stars. It looked to be a close game with the Missfits taking the early lead, but alas, the All Stars certainly lived up to their name and won with a final score of 171-250. Ouch, but we'll get 'em next time!

All in all the event was a great success! Much thanks to photographers, referees, NSOs, volunteers, coaches Dee V Us, Timber, Banshee and Tye-Die!

Following that will be a face off between the Missfits of Mayhem and the OCDG All Stars!

The MISSfit Toys - CARDA's Juniors Going Strong!

The MISSfit Toys, CARDAs newest addition and very first junior team are amping up for their first game againt the Greater Edmonton Junior Roller Derby Association (GEJRA). Holy freaking moley are they looking good! At yesterday's practice (juniors practice Mondays 7-9pm) we had some impressively tight 3-walls, some killer positional blocking, and a few spills that were brushed off quicker than the dust on their knee pads.

Be sure sure to see it for your self when they play at the

 Wetaskiwin Drill Hall on Saturday March 30th!

This game will be a double header, followed by CARDAs travel team, The Missfit of Mayhem vs OCDG AllStars. Bring out the whole fam-damily for the action-packed evening!
